Randall Espinoza, MD
Garvey Family Endowed Professorship for Technology and Brain Health
Randall Espinoza, MD, is the inaugural holder of the Garvey Family Endowed Professorship for Technology and Brain Health and is serving as the Medical Director of the Garvey Institute Center for Neuromodulation in the new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning on the UW Medical Center- Northwest campus. The Center currently offers electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) with plans to offer other novel therapeutics in the near future. Dr. Espinoza has significant experience with a range of neuromodulation therapies and his research projects have included investigating various neuromodulation and interventional therapies and developing novel educational programs and curricula.
Jesse Fann, MD, MPH
Mark N. Tabbutt Endowed Professorship for Education in Brain Health
Jesse Fann, MD, MPH, is the inaugural holder of the Mark N. Tabbutt Endowed Professorship for Education in Brain Health. In this role, Dr. Fann will direct a new Clinician Scientist Training Program (CSTP) that will identify, engage, and support trainees and junior faculty members who would like a mentored research experience and develop as clinician scientists. Dr. Fann leads the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences’ Psychooncology program at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and he has more than two decades of experience with conducting clinical research in the areas of psychooncology and traumatic brain injury, supported by numerous federal and foundation grants and resulting in over 150 peer reviewed research articles. He is looking forward to establishing and leading a program that will stimulate and support trainees and early-career faculty toward successful careers as clinician scientists.
Thomas J Grabowski, MD
Tim B. Engle Endowed Professorship for Brain Health Innovations
Thomas J Grabowski, MD, is the inaugural holder of the Tim B. Engle Endowed Professorship for Brain Health Innovations. In this role, Dr. Grabowski will help support the Institute’s efforts in the area of cognitive aging. This work will focus on strategies to promote brain wellness and resilience across the lifespan and to delay the effects of brain aging and degenerative brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
Rebecca Hendrickson, MD, PhD
Denise L. Tabbut Endowed Professor for Trauma and Brain Health
Rebecca Hendrickson, MD, PhD, is the inaugural holder of the Denise L. Tabbut Endowed Professor for Trauma and Brain Health. Dr. Hendrickson’s work investigates the impacts of trauma on the brain and the body – working to identify the common mechanisms that underlie the impacts of diverse types of physical and traumatic stressors on our physiology and our experience of the world. Dr Hendrickson will use this understanding to develop novel, personalized medicine options for prevention and treatment.
Marco Pravetoni, PhD
Rick L. Seaver Endowed Professorship for Brain Wellness
Marco Pravetoni, PhD, is the inaugural holder of the Rick L. Seaver Endowed Professorship for Brain Wellness. Dr. Pravetoni is an expert in the development of vaccines, antibody-based strategies, and small molecules to counteract opioid use disorders and overdose, approaches that can improve the lives of individuals living with substance use disorders or who are at risk of fatal overdoses. Dr. Pravetoni will direct a new Center for Medication Development for Substance Use Disorders which will be located in the Research and Training (R&T) Building at Harborview Medical Center.
