Practicing clinicians who are also engaged in research and discovery are central to the development of new solutions for the millions of individuals struggling with mental health and addiction problems around the world. They are also ‘key ingredients’ in our efforts to rapidly translate scientific discoveries into better care for our patients and families.
To encourage our trainees to explore or pursue a career as a clinician scientist, we have launched a new opportunity that provides funding and faculty support to participate in mentored research. Trainee Research Awards are one-year grants of $ 5,000 to $ 25,000 to cover research expenditures, travel expenses to research conferences, faculty mentorship, and/or access to the Clinical Trials Consultation and Technical Assistance Program (see below). Funded by the Garvey Institute for Brain Health Solutions and other supporters of the department, the Awards are part of our new Clinician Scientist Training Program (CSTP) dedicated to identifying, engaging and supporting trainees and early career faculty who are interested in research.
